Visiting the patient by his friends is goo for patient. This gives him the idea that his friends and relatives remember him. It is good to give some gift to the patient according to his liking. Flowers, food, and some personal items can be chosen for the gift.
Patient if physically weak, the home nurse should establish
visiting hours so that patient may have enough time to rest and sleep. It is
the duty of the friends and relations to respect the visiting hours. Good
visitors should know what to talk about and how long to stay with patient. The
home nurse should observe the following:-
1.
Visitors should be allowed to meet the patient
at fixed time.
2.
A few visitors should be allowed to meet at a
time. Conversation with many people may cause fatigue to the patient.
3.
Visitors should sit near the patient on a chair,
stool, or whatever is in the room. Sitting on the patient’s bed is improper.
4.
Visitor should all sit on the same side of the
bed. Looking from one side to all the other can make the patient tired.
5.
Visitor should leave the patient before he gets
tired.
